Classes to match your goals

Conditions of Competition


The following must be read in conjunction with the rule on the local card from Poult Wood.

1. The Tournament

a) The Tournament shall be open to amateur golfers of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

b) The Tournament shall consist of:

  • Category 1 Male Golfers (0 to 24)
  • Category 2 Male Golfers (25 and over)
  • Category 3 Female Golfers (0 and above)

The Tournament shall be played as separate men's and women's competitions (with a mixed draw). Subject to a minimum of 5 women entries per category.

If the tournament organiser's receives less than 3 entries of female players, all female players will play in the men's categories. All players will play from the tees specified on the day, except female players who will play from the red tees. In the event of a tie in any category count back will be used to decide standings.

c) The winner shall be the competitor with the leading nett score. Ties shall be decided by applying General Conditions of Competition 11b.

d) The competition will be played with the adoption of the modifications to the rules of golf published by the R & A and revised in 2016.

2. Entries

There will be a maximum of 40 entries. Competitors taken on a first come first served basis.

Entry deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 6 June 2018.

If entries exceed 40, the next 10 entrants shall be placed on a reserve list. If such players are not subsequently offered a place or are unable to accept such an offer, entry fees will be returned. Where there are fewer than 40 and if reserves are available these shall be taken from the reserve list, whichever is applicable.

3. Entry Qualification

Entrants must be:

a) In possession of a playing "Competition" handicap not exceeding 54 under the CONGU Unified Handicapping System or a comparable scheme operated by a recognised overseas Golf Union, Federation or Association.

b) In possession of a society handicap that can be confirmed by a handicap secretary or online provider that does not exceed 54.

c) Golfers for this event must also qualify by having a recognised disability or impairment. This may include as examples the following:

  • Amputees / One Armed Golfers / Wheelchair Golfers or other Physical impairment. This may be defined by holding a European Disabled Golf Association Medical Pass or meet the definitions of impairment as defined by European Disabled Golf Association.
  • Learning Disability – which may be registered with a Special Olympics GB Club / Mencap Gateway Club.
  • Deaf or hearing impaired players –who may be members of England Deaf Golf or regional deaf golf association.
  • Blind or visually impaired players –who may be members of England and Wales Blind Golf.

d) Buggies for other players can be requested and be made available once all those who require a buggy in order to play have been allocated. There are 20 available.

4. Winner and Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to:

The first three players from Category 1, 2 & 3 Stableford in each of the 3 events.

  • 18 holes for holders of CONGU handicaps
  • 18 holes for holders of a society handicap

Players may not win more than one trophy.
