Poult Wood hosts first Southern Disability Open
Tonbridge & Malling Leisure Trust in conjunction with Kent Golf, are hosting the first Southern Disability Open at Poult Wood Golf Course on Friday 19 May.
The competition is open to Category 1, 2 and 3 golfers and will be played to the modified rules of golf published by the R & A. Taking place on both the 18 and 9 Hole Courses, competitors are assured of a welcoming and enjoyable event at an accessible and friendly facility. There are 60 places available in the 18 Hole competition for those with a 'competition' handicap not exceeding 54 under the CONGU Unified Handicapping System or comparable scheme. Please see conditions of the competition.
The 18 Hole competition will start at 9.30; the 9 Hole Competition and tuition at 12 noon. We also wish to welcome disabled golfers looking to return to the game or who wish to start playing. For this reason we are offering the chance to Give Golf a Go with some expert PGA Tuition on our driving range, followed by a round on the short 9-hole course. The Give Golf a Go session will start at 12 noon - all equipment is provided.
"We are very pleased to be hosting this new event in the golfing calendar and look forward to welcoming golfers and participants from Kent and further afield," said Adam Perry, Head of Business Development. "Poult Wood offers the ideal facilities for the competition and we feel honoured to be running it for the first time in the South East."
Jamie Blair, England Golf Disability Manager said, "England Golf working with our County and Club partners want to provide events for disabled players within our game. I am delighted to see Kent Golf with Poult Wood host the Southern Disability Open, creating a golf event for disabled players within the county of Kent and in the South East. The event will provide a great opportunity for existing disabled players to compete and provide an opportunity for new disabled players getting into golf through the work of clubs across the county to put their skills in practice over 9 or 18 holes"
The entry deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 10 May 2017 and is limited to a maximum of 60 with competitors accepted on a first come first served basis.Download an entry form here or contact us for one by post - firstname.lastname@example.org.
