Swimming sessions for women
Women and girls from across the borough are being invited to attend the female-only swimming sessions running at Larkfield Leisure Centre and Tonbridge Swimming Pool.
These friendly and supportive session is inspired by the hugely successful #thisgirlcan campaign. Developed by Sport England, the campaign is a celebration of active women and aims to help women overcome the fear of judgement that prevents many women and girls from being active.
Sessions running at Larkfield Leisure Centre include Lane Swimming on Sunday from 6pm to 8pm and Aqua Aerobics on Wednesday from 8pm to 8.45pm. Both sessions are pay and play - so no need to book, just turn up and join in.
Tonbridge Swimming Pool's Lane Swimming session runs each Thursday from 8 - 10pm, again pay and play, no need to book. A female assistant is on poolside during the session to provide for help, support and motivation.
Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise around, providing a whole body workout. As well as providing an effective cardiovascular workout, swimming strengthens and tones all of the major muscle groups. As a low impact exercise, swimming is suitable for those who need to take it easy on their joints or are recovering from injury.
