Dance, Drama & Design for Health!

Fotolia 46121340 XSDance, Drama & Design for Health is a new and exciting programme running at The East Malling Centre for 12- 18 year olds living, studying or working in the Borough of Tonbridge & Malling.

This FREE programme will include contemporary dance, acting and different aspects of using special effects makeup to create characters with different issues and how our "look" is formed through healthy/unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Dance, Drama & Design uniquely combines thinking, feeling, sensing, doing and raises awareness of health promotion in a lively interactive way.

Sarah Rose Denton- Drama

Norma Jeane The Musical c David Elms 5Sarah has taught at Dance and Theatre Schools all over Kent, including Adult Education, workshops, and specialist Summer Schools. Sarah trained at the Millennium Musical Theatre College, gaining her Associate in Musical Theatre. Since then she has had a career that includes credits on the stage and screen, and she still performs today. The drama element of these classes will touch upon how we can tap into our emotions to help us create a character, and how our thoughts and feelings impact on the way we express ourselves.

Kate Griffiths- Theatrical Makeup Artist-

VEkP7Ft9Kate studied for an International Diploma in Theatrical & Media Makeup qualifying in 1998 after which she was fortunate enough to start part-time tutoring in her subject for Adult Education and running short courses for Kent Children's University across her home county. In 2004 she had built up a large school client base and became a full-time freelancer, starting her business which has developed in to what it is today. The Makeup workshop for this programme will include using special effects makeup to create characters with different issues and how our "look" is formed through healthy/unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Natalie Marie- Dance

Natalie is a professional Dancer and IDTA dance teacher, with extensive performance experience in both TV and theatre. From the age of 16 she pursued her dance training with Linda Regan, a highly respected performer and IDTA examiner to achieve her associate teaching qualifications and advanced performers exams. Natalie also trained at Reynolds Performing Arts College, gaining more experience of the dance industry; as well as regular classes at London Dance Works and Pineapple Dance Studios. The Dance element of the programme allows young people to express themselves through creative contemporary and modern dance to discover how to channel our emotions through movement.

Behind the incredibly inspiring This Girl Can campaign, our supportive, friendly, female swimming sessions are designed for EVERY women.

Swimming is a fantastic low impact exercise that strengthens and tones major muscle groups within a woman's body. When you swim, you are benefiting the body and the mind and what's more, our poolside activator will be on hand to ensure you have fun in the water.

Spin for Health

Fotolia 41283376 XSSpin for Health is a new inspiring girls only programme, which reduces the barriers for participation for girls who would like to work out in a single gender environment. Taking place at Larkfield Leisure Centre from Wednesday 18 January to Wednesday 8 March, the eight week programme recognises the need to provide sessions which are inclusive, fun and encouraging for young women and at low cost.

This eight week funded programme running from 4.30pm to 5.30pm is suitable for young women aged 16-21 living, working or studying in the borough of Tonbridge & Malling, who has difficulties with any of the following:

  • anxiety and worry
  • low self-esteem/confidence
  • weight gain
  • stress
  • currently physically inactive


To take part and for a self-referral form contact The session is run in partnership with Kent Sport & Sport England.



Walking Football

Fotolia 47275463 LIf you think your footballing days are over then think again! Come and join our weekly play and pay Walking Football sessions - great for keeping fit, learning new skills and for socialising. Ideal for men and women over 55, although everyone is welcome. Sessions run:

  • Angel Centre - Thursday from 2.30-4pm and costs £3.70 Member/Non Member
  • Larkfield Leisure Centre - Friday from 3-4pm and from 5th March Sunday from 11.15am- 12.15pm

The sessions at Larkfield Leisure Centre are run in conjunction with Charlton Athletic Community Trust and costs £3.40 Member/Non Member.

The rules are based on the format provided by Kent FA. Please wear indoor trainers, shorts/tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt and bring water - bibs will be provided.

'Here Come the Girls' Running Group

Running picture SmallCome and join the tmactive 'Here Come the Girls' running group, taking place each week at Larkfield Leisure Centre and from January 2017 at Tonbridge Swimming Pool. The sessions are FREE, friendly, supportive and for complete beginners.

  • Larkfield Leisure Centre- Tuesday from 9.30- 10.15am
  • Tonbridge Swimming Pool- Wednesday from 9.30am- 10.15am

Running is an incredibly effective way to lift your mood, get fitter and make you healthier. And you can do it anywhere, anytime and it's fantastic for burning calories. Running can actually help lower your risk of breast cancer, of having a stroke, high blood pressure, chronic illnesses and type 2 diabetes. Not all the benefits are physical,  regular running can boost your confidence and self-esteem, help you sleep better, meet new people and leave your feeling more energised, focused and happier.
