tmactive150 is our new community programme that is designed to encourage and help local people achieve 150 minutes of moderate activity per week.  This programme is part of our outreach work in addressing issues and barriers
that may prevent local people from participating in physical activity.

'Here Come the Girls'

thisgirlcanrunningCome and join the tmactive 'Here Come the Girls' running group, taking place each week at Larkfield Leisure Centre and Tonbridge Swimming Pool. The sessions are FREE, friendly, supportive and for complete beginners.

Larkfield Leisure Centre- Tuesday from 9.30am (Beginners)

Tonbridge Swimming Pool- Wednesday from 9.30am (Beginners)

Larkfield Leisure Centre- Wednesday from 5.45pm (5k)

Running is an incredibly effective way to lift your mood, get fitter and make you healthier. And you can do it anywhere, anytime and it's fantastic for burning calories. Running can actually help lower your risk of breast cancer, of having a stroke, high blood pressure, chronic illnesses and type 2 diabetes. Not all the benefits are physical,  regular running can boost your confidence and self-esteem, help you sleep better, meet new people and leave your feeling more energised, focused and happier.

This Girl Can Swim

Behind the incredibly inspiring This Girl Can campaign, our supportive, friendly, female swimming sessions are designed for EVERY women.

Swimming is a fantastic low impact exercise that strengthens and tones major muscle groups within a woman's body. When you swim, you are benefiting the body and the mind and what's more, our poolside activator will be on hand to ensure you have fun in the water.

Walking Football

Fotolia 47275463 LIf you think your footballing days are over then think again! Come and join our weekly play and pay Walking Football sessions - great for keeping fit, learning new skills and for socialising. Ideal for men and women over 55, although everyone is welcome. Sessions run:

Angel Centre - Thursday from 2.30-4pm and costs £3.70 Member/Non MemberLarkfield Leisure Centre - Friday from 3-4pm and from 5th March Sunday from 11.15am- 12.15pm

The sessions at Larkfield Leisure Centre are run in conjunction with Charlton Athletic Community Trust and costs £3.40 Member/Non Member.

The rules are based on the format provided by Kent FA. Please wear indoor trainers, shorts/tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt and bring water - bibs will be provided.

Spin for Health

IMG 6558Spin for Health is a new inspiring girls only programme, which reduces the barriers for participation for girls who would like to work out in a single gender environment. Taking place at Larkfield Leisure Centre, this session recognises the need to provide sessions which are inclusive, fun and encouraging for young women and at low cost.

Wednesday's 4.30- 5.30pm

Cost: £2 Pay as you go or advanced booking is available by calling Larkfield Leisure Centre 01622 719345

Spin for Health is suitable for young women aged 16-25, who has difficulties with any of the following:

  • •anxiety and worry
    •low self-esteem/confidence
    •weight gain
    •currently physically inactive



tmactive150 'Couch to 5k'

333Couch to 5k is fantastic running programmes for complete beginners that is designed to get you off the couch and running in just 9 weeks. Health benefits of running include prevention of muscle and bone loss, the prevention of stroke, diabetes, and hypertension. It also lowers high cholesterol level, improves blood clotting, boosts the immune system, reduces stress, and enhances mood. This programme is supportive, social and FREE. We will also support you with sustaining your fitness (and hopefully new love for running) by providing information on local running groups, health walks and community running events. This programme may also help you to find a running buddy or give you the confidence to enjoy running with a family member, friend or for some often well needed 'me time'.

It may be early, but you wil feel energised and be able to enjoy the rest of the day!
