Following my recent statement for the gradual easing of restrictions and reintroduction of facilities at tmactive sites please note the operational plan for Tonbridge Swimming Pool from week commencing Monday 19 July.

We know that our customers have appreciated our efforts to ensure a COVID-safe environment at our facilities during the course of the pandemic and it would seem irresponsible to simply return immediately to pre-pandemic operation and practice.

Our current term-time programme and set-up will remain in place until Wednesday 21 July and our summer programme will commence from Thursday 22 July. Our summer holiday pools programme will be published in due course. The programme and pool capacities will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis.

To ensure continued customer and staff safety the following will remain in place:

  • Hand sanitiser stations around the building.
  • Physical screens at reception and café.
  • Customers will be required to queue at the building entrance until admitted for their session.
  • The one-way system will be removed but some barriers will be kept in place to aid customer movement through the building.
  • Customers are still requested to wear masks when moving through the building but can remove these when they have reached their activity or seated in the cafe or outdoor pool area.
  • Pool capacities will be increased gradually to ensure customer comfort but will be reviewed on a regular basis.
  • We will also continue to promote the track and trace system.

Booking Swim Sessions

  • We will be operating our normal booking and band system, however swim sessions will remain pool specific i.e. customers can book either fitness or outdoor or teaching pool. This is to ensure capacities are adhered to and prevent overcrowding. Customers will not be able to move between pools.
  • Public sessions can be booked for a maximum of 90 minutes.
  • Please note that it is currently not possible to book a family swim at the advertised rate on-line and this can only be booked by phone on 01732 367449.
  • A few spaces will be available on lane swimming sessions for walk-in direct debit and annual members.
  • Booking for our summer programme is now open for direct debit and annual members, will open for Priority Card holders from Saturday 17 July and for casual users from Tuesday 20 July. Bookings will be released from 6am on these days but due to the volume of work involved this process can take up to 4 hours for all sessions to be live.

Facilities from Thursday 22 July

  • Booking will remain in place for lane swimming. There will now be 3 x 45-minute early morning sessions from 6.30am – 8.45am.

The Spa will not be opening initially due to essential air handling works and plant maintenance but will re-open once these have been completed.

The Café will open from Wednesday 21 July with customer seating available.

Changing Facilities and toilets

  • All cubicles and lockers will be available for customer use.
  • Poolside and changing village showers will be reinstated for use.
  • Changing room barefoot policy will not be reinstated initially but will be reintroduced once Swim School has finished.
  • Toilet facilities will return to full capacity use.

Many, many thanks for your continued custom and patience during the past 18 months. I hope that a safe and sustainable route back to full operation will be seen over the next few months and that we will not have to reverse any of the measures referred to above. We will review specific arrangements at all sites every two weeks.

We very much look forward to welcoming back many more customers to Tonbridge Swimming Pool in the coming weeks.

Kind regards
