Dear Customer

Following the recent statement for the gradual easing of restrictions and reintroduction of facilities at tmactive sites please note the operational plan for Larkfield Leisure Centre from week commencing Monday 19 July.

We know that our customers have appreciated our efforts to ensure a COVID-safe environment at our facilities during the course of the pandemic and it would seem irresponsible to simply return immediately to pre-pandemic operation and practice.

We intend, therefore, to unlock incrementally from Monday 19 July with customer and staff safety in mind. We will gradually increase capacity in our gym, classes and pools and remove the need to pre-book the gym by the end of July.

Our current term-time pool programme and set-up will remain in place until Monday 26 July when our summer programme will commence. Our summer holiday pools programme will be published in due course. The programme and capacities will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis.

To ensure continued customer and staff safety the following will remain in place:

  • Hand sanitiser stations around the building.
  • Physical screens at reception and café.
  • All one-way systems will be removed but some barriers will be kept in place to aid customer movement through the building.
  • Reception layout will remain the same for the time being.
  • Customers are requested to wear masks when moving through the building but can remove these when they have reached their activity or seated in the cafe.
  • Capacities will be increased gradually to ensure customer comfort but will be reviewed on a regular basis.
  • We will also continue to promote the track and trace system.

Booking Swim Sessions

  • We will be continuing with the pool booking system until the 2 August, at which point we will identify selected times when the pool will be bookable for lane swimming.
  • The leisure pool sessions will be published shortly and booking will be available for selected 1 hour sessions from Monday 26 July.

  • The gym capacity will be increased to 55 from 19 July.
  • The gym will still close between 1pm-2pm for a deep clean.
  • From 19 July customer will not be required to book a gym session.
  • From 19 July customer will not be limited to 1 hour workouts in the gym, however we will be monitoring capacities and, as such, would request members be mindful of other users during busy times so that all customers can access the gym.
  • Gym members will need to use their tmactive membership bands to access the gym.
  • Some machines will be put back into action as well as floor mats.
  • Changing facilities and showers will be available from 19 July.

Pool Timetables - Both the Fitness and the Leisure Pool timetables will be reviewed regularly. Customers who will be lane swimming only will need to inform reception at point of sale / entry as capacities will be closely monitored to allow for suitable safety and social distancing.

Exercise Classes

  • Our classes will remain unchanged for the week of 19 July, with a slight increase in capacity for the immersive studio.
  • From the week of 26 July, we will be returning to a more traditional class timetable with classes that had been moved into the Sports Hall returning to Studio 1 and 2. This will initially result in a decrease in capacity for some classes. Class capacities will be reviewed regularly.
  • From 26 July classes will not be limited to 45 minutes.
  • Aqua Action classes will remain at their current start times for the week 26 July, but will then revert to their traditional times from 2 August.

Swim School will continue in all the pools up to Sunday 1 August. Spectators will be permitted on poolside at the provided stations until end of current term.

Prima Dance School will continue to operate its current timetable up until Saturday 8 August.

Dry Side Course - Trampolining and Gymnastics will continue to operate their current timetable up until Sunday 1 August.

Sports Hall - Customers will be able to make sports hall bookings from 26 July, however some times and activities may not be available due to the courses operation.

The Spa will not be opening initially due to essential air handling works and plant maintenance but will re-open once these have been completed.

The Café will be opening shortly, but no date has been set for this.

Creche & Larkabout will be opening shortly, but no date has been set for this.

Changing Facilities & toilets

  • All cubicles and lockers will be available for customer use.
  • Changing village showers will be reinstated for use
  • Changing room barefoot policy will not be reinstated initially but will be reintroduced once Swim School has finished.
  • Toilet facilities will return to full capacity use.

Many, many thanks for your continued custom and patience during the past 18 months. I hope that a safe and sustainable route back to full operation will be seen over the next few months and that we will not have to reverse any of the measures referred to above. We will review specific arrangements at all sites every two weeks.

We very much look forward to welcoming back many more customers to Larkfield Leisure Centre in the coming weeks.

Kind regards

Martin Guyton - Chief Executive
