Angel Centre Customer Statement - Operation from 19 July

Dear Customer

Following my recent statement for the gradual easing of restrictions and reintroduction of facilities at tmactive sites, as promised here is the operational plan for the Angel Centre from week commencing Monday 19 July.

We know that our customers have appreciated our efforts to ensure a COVID-safe environment at our facilities during the course of the pandemic and it would seem irresponsible to simply return immediately to pre-pandemic operation and practice.

We intend, therefore, to unlock incrementally from Monday 19 July with customer and staff safety in mind. We will gradually increase capacity in our gym and classes and remove the need to pre-book the gym by the end of July.

To ensure continued customer and staff safety in the Centre the following will remain in place:

  • Hand sanitiser stations around the building.
  • Physical screens at reception and at the gym check-in desk.
  • Customers are requested to wear masks when moving through the building but can remove these when they have reached their activity area.
  • One-way systems will no longer operate around the building or activity areas.
  • We will also continue to promote the track and trace system.

Due to the NHS mass vaccination centre continuing to operate through to the end of August we will not have use of the sports hall, dance studio or creche available until early September. This means that changing rooms and showers will not be available during this period and customers should continue to come ready changed.

We will continue to hold our group exercise class programme in the Medway Hall and Riverside room as we have been doing since May.

  • Customer entry and exit will revert to the main Centre reception, but we ask that all customers swipe in at the gym to avoid crowding in the reception area.
  • Customers will no longer be required to book a gym session and both the upstairs and downstairs gym floors will be available to use. The exception to this will be EXCEL Members who are required to book their slot during their allotted times.
  • Customers that have already booked in beyond 19 July will no longer be required to attend at their allocated booking time unless they wish to, however please be aware of the cleaning closure times below.
  • Access to the gym will be via the Riverside and sports hall balcony and we ask that all customers are quiet and follow the route behind the screens when classes are taking place and the vaccination centre is in operation.
  • More equipment will be returned to the gym floor, but a level of social distance will be maintained. We will not return immediately to full capacity, but numbers permitted in the gym will be increased.
  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness we will be closing the gym twice a day between 8.30-9am and 3.30-4pm weekdays and once at weekends between 1.15-1.45pm for deep cleaning.
  • Cleaning stations will remain in place in the gym and we ask that customers continue to sanitise the equipment when they have used it.
  • Our referral programme will resume as normal through our Referral Coordinator.
  • Gym opening hours will be extended to 9.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9pm Friday.

Group Exercise and Spin Classes

  • Customer entry will remain via the main reception, but customers should now swipe in at the reception desk.
  • All classes will remain bookable.
  • Class capacities will be reviewed and may be increased where possible, but still allowing for sufficient spacing of customers.
  • Cleaning stations will remain in place and we ask that customers continue to sanitise their equipment at the end of their session.
  • A gap will be retained between classes to allow for additional staff cleaning.

Sports Hall - this is due return for use in early September but prior to re-opening this there will be some restoration work required following departure of the vaccination centre.

Meetings & Meeting Rooms

  • Meeting rooms will be available to hire for small meetings only as we have limited table availability due to the NHS vaccination centre.
  • Availability for large meetings in the Medway Hall or Riverside will be restricted until September due to exercise classes.

The Crèche is expected to re-open in September following departure of the vaccination centre.

Junior Coaching Courses - Gymnastics courses will continue to operate in the Medway Hall under the current conditions until the end of the current term. We are hoping to return to our full coaching course programme from September to include Gymnastics, Badminton and Trampoline sessions.

Many, many thanks for your continued custom and patience during the past 18 months. I hope that a safe and sustainable route back to full operation will be seen over the next few months and that we will not have to reverse any of the measures referred to above. We will review specific arrangements at all sites every two weeks.

We very much look forward to welcoming back many more customers to the Angel Centre in the coming weeks.

Best Regards

Martin Guyton - Chief Executive
