Larkfield & Tonbridge Pool recognised as ‘Excellent’ by leading quality scheme for COVID-19 control measures

Larkfield Leisure Centre and Tonbridge Swimming Pool have both passed a tough assessment with an ‘Excellent’ rating by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest, demonstrating they have robust COVID-19 control measures in place for both customers and staff.

This includes a detailed programme of customer communication and confidence building messages to show what adaptions have been made and to assist customers remain safe while using the facilities.”

The Mystery Visitor at Tonbridge Swimming Pool commented: “Well managed, could almost be an understatement. I don’t think I have ever seen a team that was working so well together. It was really obvious that from the receptionists allowing customers to enter the building, the lifeguards manning the pools and the lifeguards undertaking cleaning duties that all were working in sync. And, they all seemed to be enjoying their work. I left the Centre with the impression that COVID-19 has really added something to the team’s work.”

Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK. The new assessment, Quest Prime, has been set up in response to the current climate, helping leisure centres to prove they have sufficient processes and procedures in place to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within their buildings.

In order to achieve Quest Prime, both centres underwent an assessment by an external assessor across core areas of pandemic management, as well as a mystery visit.

The importance of a professional visiting our facilities and validating that our carefully planned work to keep people safe is rigorous cannot be underestimated, and the management team and I are proud of our centre teams for their achievement of an ‘Excellent’ rating in Quest Prime.”

Quest’s Operations Director, Caroline Constantine, said: “By meeting Quest Prime’s high standards, tmactive has shown its commitment to reduce the risk of virus transmission through robust control measures, giving both the staff and customers confidence. Like all Quest assessments, the standards for Quest Prime are demanding and challenging for the management team and staff, and it is an achievement to succeed in Quest at any level. In these unprecedented times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their safety procedures and the value they bring to the local community, and Quest helps them do just that.”
