New Gymnastics Programme launching in January 2022

We are excited to have launched a new, more engaging and progressive Gymnastics programme at Larkfield Leisure Centre.

gymnastThe NAtGAP programme offers three schemes: starting with Early Years and progressing through the higher levels. Each scheme has its own training book which lists all the skills required for each piece of apparatus at each progressive level. Each gymnast has their own book and the skills are ticked off by the coach as they are achieved, creating a complete training record. At a glance gymnasts, coaches and parents can track the training and skills learned by logging into the student’s home portal. Once a term, at specified sessions, parents will be invited to view their child’s progress book.

LEVELS & SCHEMES

Each section of the scheme has corresponding medals to collect (at a nominal cost). There are 8 medals to achieve in each level and scheme, if a gymnast achieves all 8 medals then a certificate will be issued for the completion of an entire level:

Early Years Scheme
The Early Years programme introduces basic gymnastic skills, coordination of movement and gets children used to the gymnastics environment.

  • Little Gem for parent and child lessons, 8 themed sections of mixed apparatus.
  • Junior Gem 8 sections of 12 mixed apparatus skills designed for pre-school gymnasts.

Standard Scheme – For School aged children
Each level has eight different sections of apparatus with twelve skills to complete in each (10 out of 12 to pass). Therefore, the four levels consisting of 96 skills each, forming a comprehensive learning programme for gymnasts.

  • Emerald
  • Sapphire
  • Ruby
  • Diamond

APPARATUS SPECIFIC

Each level shares the same eight apparatus sections. Gymnasts can work through the schemes at their own pace and can progress through the levels on each piece of apparatus, independent of the other sections ie a gymnast can be on the Emerald level on bars, but already be on the Sapphire level on floor.
