Celebrating 10 years as a leisure trust
STATEMENT FROM CHIEF EXECUTIVE - MARTIN GUYTON
On 1st November 2013, tmactive became a charitable, not-for-profit organisation responsible for the delivery of sport and leisure facilities on behalf of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council.
This successful partnership has allowed tmactive to provide residents and visitors with high quality, value-for-money services and facilities for the last ten years.
I’m delighted to be celebrating the tenth anniversary of tmactive, your local leisure Trust, delivering health, fitness and wellbeing services to residents and visitors to Tonbridge & Malling Borough. This is more than just an anniversary, it's a celebration of our community and ten years of collaboration with you, our customers.
The Trust was formed entirely in the public benefit when over 350 staff transferred from the Council on 1 November 2013 with the vision to make ‘more people, more active, more often’. In the ten years of operation despite the ravages of the pandemic an estimated 11 million customers have passed through our doors. All surpluses accrued by the Trust over the past decade have been ring-fenced and reinvested into enhancing the facilities and services, with over £1.5 million spent in this way.
The excellent partnership we have with the Council has been instrumental in delivering these critical wellbeing services to a high standard and to the enjoyment and benefit of all. This couldn’t be achieved without a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, now numbering over 500, that I have been privileged to lead and to whom I am indebted for their hard work, professionalism and customer service ethics. I must also acknowledge our Board of Trustees, each a member of our local community, who voluntarily support the Trust.
I truly believe that the Trust has made a difference to so many lives and never has that been more true than post-pandemic as we all recognise the benefit of exercise and good health.
I look forward to the next ten years of tmactive and a long and enduring relationship with the Council, our staff team and most especially, you our customers.
Best wishes
Martin Guyton
